Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has sent a message to the Reds' newest star Darwin Nunez after his stunning debut against Manchester City.
The 23-year-old marked his competitive debut with a goal as he nodded past Ederson during Saturday's Community Shield triumph. Liverpool's summer signing made a big impact during his half-an-hour cameo at the King Power Stadium as he won a penalty - which restored their lead - as well as rounding off the scoring in stoppage time.
Nunez became just the third player from Uruguay to sign for Liverpool following the arrival of El Pistolero and Sebastian Coates. As Suarez did against Stoke - following his January move in 2011 - the forward scored on his competitive debut.

After picking up his first piece of silverware since arriving from Benfica, Nunez posted a host of social media updates, including a post which read: "Give me that shield."
His post prompted a response from Suarez, who replied: "Felicitaciones (Congratulations) @Darwinn99! YNWA @liverpoolfc."
Prior to his summer arrival, the striker was likened to his fellow countryman. But the 35-year-old was coy on any comparisons with the youngster, tipping Nunez to "write his own story" in L4.
He said in June: "He (Nunez) will write his own story at Liverpool. He is Uruguayan and he is a forward but that is where the comparisons stop - he is a special player and doesn't need to be compared with anybody.
"It was last season that Europe started to take notice of him because of his performances for Benfica - but from an early age I could see there was something special in him. While he was at Almeria I recommended him to Barcelona but it was something that never happened."
