A couple whose relationship started thanks to a bit of creative coffee art have shared their story, a year on from when a barista made her bold first move.
Sophie Hosking from Edinburgh shared a video on TikTok a year ago where she asked her followers if they knew one of the customers in Grams, the Stockbridge coffee shop where she worked. Describing him as ‘so cute’, Sophie said he always comes in and she wanted to ‘shoot her shot’.
After serving up a latte with ‘ur cute’ written in foam, it seemed to work the trick. Sophie, 24, has gained over 7 million likes on her original video on the saga with 14,000 comments - all begging to know more.

One follower wrote: “Tell us the outcome!” Another commented: “I’m trusting the algorithm to bring me back.”
She updated people the following month, saying: “Update, I got his number and it turns out he’s been taking photos of all the coffees I’ve ever made over the months.
“We’re texting right now!”
Now, one year on, Sophie provided another update on the tale with the caption: “A year of love and coffee, thank you guys.”
With a compilation of videos of the adorable couple, she added: “One year ago, I went viral for making a TikTok about coffee and love.
“Today, I’m on my way to London to see that same boy. The love and support you have all poured out for me and us over this past year has been amazing.
“We are together and still going strong. I hope you all find the confidence to go after what you want.”
After posting the update on Wednesday morning, she had dozens of comments of support within hours. One follower wrote: “Stop it, this is wonderful. The update I didn’t know I needed.”
Another added: “I’m so happy for you guys.”
A third commented: “I remember watching the updates and I just rewatched them again, you two are so adorable.”
