This year's Love Island contestants have reportedly been struck down by a "nasty stomach bug" two weeks into the second ever winter series. A brand new cohort of singletons entered the sprawling luxury villa in South Africa on January 16, but it seems that some have found the lurgy rather than love.
The Sun reports that some kind of bug bombshell has shaken up the villa, leaving this year's islanders urgently rushing to the toilets. An insider from the ITV2 reality show has claimed that the illness has struck down a number of contestants and members of the production team.
An source told The Sun: "Love Island might look very sexy on the television but behind the scenes there has been a bug going around. As well as rushing to the Beach Hut for a chat, the islanders have also been dashing off to use the loo.

"It has been pretty rough for some of them. Some of the production team have also been affected by the sickness bug."
The source claimed that the virus has eaten its way through the set, leaving a "less than appealing" aftermath in its wake. Whilst members of this year's cast have been going "all out" to make sure they aren't left single, the bug has brought a "dose of reality" to the reality show.
A common occurrence, stomach bugs often induce vomiting and diarrhoea in those who are unlucky to contract them. They usually go away within a couple of days.
Reports of a stomach bug hitting the Love Island villa comes after TikTok star Will Young revealed that bombshells Tom Clare and Ellie Spence shared an intimate kiss on the terrace. The farmer revealed the juicy gossip to Tanya Manhenga, Shaq Muhammad and Jessie Wynter during last night's episode, January 30.
"I have had a lot on my mind today," Will confessed to his co-stars. "I got told a little bit of information and I don’t know what to do with it."
When Tanya asked for more information, Will replied: "So basically, Ellie pulled me today and said yesterday that she kissed Tom out on the terrace."
Will's revelation caused Tanya and Jessie to gasp in shock. He added: "Don’t make it a big deal."
