Love Island's Luca Bish appears to make dig at Gemma Owen over split announcement

Luca Bish has broken his silence after ex-girlfriend Gemma Owen announced their split on Instagram. Michael Owen's daughter shared the news with her 2.1 million followers, confirming they were no longer in a relationship.

The couple, who lost out in the Love Island 2022 final to Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti, seemed to be going from strength-to-strength since leaving the villa. The pair made their relationship official 11 weeks ago in an Instagram post.

However, Gemma took to her Instagram stories on Wednesday, November 17, to announce they had broken up. She said: "I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for us both right now.

"Many of you have been on this journey with us from the very beginning and I want to thank you for your continued support as we start new chapters." You can read more on this here.

However, Luca has now responded. Seemingly unprepared for the news to break he told his Instagram followers he would have like some time to process the split privately.

In his own lengthy statement, he said: "Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup.

"I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways. We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories which I will treasure."

He added: "I can't thank everyone enough for their support for us as a couple during and after Love Island."

Gemma and Luca are the second couple to split since Love Island 2022 ended. Welsh paramedic Paige Thorne and Adam Collard have also gone their separate ways. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
