Love Island's Gemma 'likely to dump Luca at Casa Amor' after spotting subtle change, says expert

Apart for a brief flirtation with Davide Sanclimenti, Gemma Owen has only had eyes for fishmonger Luca Bish on this year's Love Island.

Or has she?

Last night the villa was shook by a conversation between Gemma and Dami Hope, where the former admitted she could still have her head turned.

Attempting to 'read her mind', Dami suggested that Gemma doesn't like Luca as much as he likes her, and that if someone came in who was a better fit, then her head would turn. For Gemma's part, she didn't deny it, replying: "That was quite impressive. I don't think you're that far off."

Despite all Islanders present vowing to keep what happens on the day bed, on the day bed, Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu immediately scurried off to spill the tea to a canoodling Paige Thorne and Jacques O'Neill, prompting all hell to break loose.

Upholding the 'Bro Code' Jacques quickly blabbed to bestie Luca, leaving him devastated. Meanwhile, Gemma got into a furious row with a bemused Ekin-Su, who refused to apologise, stating she was only repeating Dami's words.

A heart-to-heart of sorts ensued between Luca and Gemma - he admitted he is as 'obsessed' as ever, she confessed that although her head was 'unlikely' to be turned, it could be if someone 'better' came in.

And with Casa Amor not too far off, where does this leave the island's ex-strongest couple?

Body language expert Darren Stanton believes that the Luca fans have known and loved may be gone for good after this latest twist, revealing that his confidence is at an all-time low.

Speaking to The Mirror on behalf of Slingo, Darren explained: "Gemma exploded in the villa when she discovered Ekin-Su had implied her head would be turned away from others and the fact that others voiced this concern damaged Luca’s self confidence quite dramatically.

"When Luca is feeling confident, he slouches in his chair and his arms are spread out at his sides - this is a bold, confident gesture, also seen as a power gesture, but we haven’t seen this from Luca following tensions with himself and Gemma."

For Gemma's part, Darren says the more insecure Luca becomes, the more she gets turned off.

He continued: "Gemma was very reluctant during her heated discussion with Luca to fully commit to him and say that she only has eyes for him. She came over defensive and rarely made eye contact with Luca.

"She is fully aware that he currently wears the trousers in their romance. Luca shows signs of insecurities around Gemma - we can tell this from the way he holds himself, he often wraps his arms around himself or runs his hands through his hair. Gemma isn’t looking for this type of man. She likes a bad boy, who isn’t going to roll over and say yes all the time.

"Her behaviour suggests she needs a partner who will put their foot down - not in an overly domineering or disrespectful way, but someone who can keep her on her toes."

Which brings us to the crux of the matter. Once the doors to Casa Amor open, separating the boys and girls and throwing them in with a new bunch of hotties, Darren says all bets are off.

Luca couldn't hide his devastation (ITV)

"Judging by Gemma's behaviour towards Luca in recent episodes, he should be worried when Casa Amor begins.

"Gemma has already voiced that while she thinks it’s unlikely, her head could still be turned and surrounded by a different dynamic that a new guy brings and being separated in another villa, it’s plausible that she could find her attention being directed elsewhere."

But even if Gemma's head does turn, Darren believes there's little chance of her and Luca making it in the real-world anyway.

"It has the potential to make or break Gemma’s relationship with Luca, however, it’s questionable whether the couple will be able to maintain a relationship outside of the villa," he added.
