Love Island fans make same complaint just moments in as narrator Iain Stirling explains

Love Island fans were eagerly awaiting the next instalment after being left on a massive cliffhanger at the end of Monday night's episode (January 30). Viewers wanted to see what happened next after Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown and Tanya Manhenga went to confront Olivia Hawkins after learning that her love interest Tom Clare had kissed new girl Ellie Spence on the ITV dating show.

Viewers had reacted in disbelief as Macclesfield FC footballer Tom, in a heart-to-heart with Olivia, reassured her that he wasn't "feeling it" with Ellie. After fellow Islander Will Young spilled the tea on the secret kiss, Tanya spread the gossip, confiding in Zara, and Zara immediately went on a mission to tell Olivia.

The episode ended with Zara racing up the stairs pursued by Tanya. They opened the door to the terrace and Tanya could be heard saying "Olivia we need you right now" and Olivia looked up in shock at them bursting in.

So viewers were unimpressed when tonight's episode (Tuesday January 31) began instead with Will on a romantic date with Jessie Wynter. Fans flocked to Twitter to have their say.

@Wawarossi123 fumed: "No one caresssss get to the tea, I can’t enjoy watching this date right now, I need Tom to get what he deserves." And @planetbakers asked: "who cares about this date be serious."

Viewers wondered why they were watching a romantic date instead of the drama (ITV)

@ricobean13 wrote: "Ok let’s move on from this Will date all happys days.. yeah yeah yeah.." @NicoleOConnor18 exclaimed: "We could have skipped this date!" And @mayaanitaCM asked: "Do you think any of us cares about this date??"

@ItsAimee_NotAmy said: "Oh come on, we don’t want this date rn. Bring the drama." @ornellasxo tweeted: "Sigh, why are they showing this dry date first, I want to see dramaaaaaaaa."

Narrator Iain Stirling made a jokey link as the action switched from the date back to the drama in the TV villa in South Africa. "Now that's beautiful, now it's time to get back to the villa where things are going to get ugly," he quipped. And he explained: "Light and shade."

Olivia had it out with Tom over the kiss (ITV)

When a stunned Olivia learned about the kiss she fumed: "If this boy is going to feed me any more lies ... Imagine if I kissed him tonight. I'm going to cry or shout."

When confronted by an angry Olivia, Tom told her about Ellie: "We had a kiss the other day not today. " And she said: "I think you're playing a smart game. You're playing with my feelings."

"It's only a kiss," he told her. I feel like I've been straight up with you." But she clapped back: "You can't have your cake and eat it."

He continued to protest: "She came on to me." But Olivia had heard enough and walked away in tears. "You've mugged me off once, you've mugged me off again," she said about Tom. Later he apologised to both Olivia and Ellie.
