Love Island 2023: First bombshell to enter villa to be voted by fans for first time in series history

ITV has announced that, for the first time in Love Island history, the public will choose the first bombshell to enter the villa. The official Love Island Instagram account has teased the two bombshells that viewers have to choose from, with voting already open ahead of the series nine launch on Monday, January 16.

Excitingly, the first choice Love Island fans have promises to 'shake the entire villa up'. Ellie Spence, a 25-year-old business development executive from Norwich, said: "If I was the first bombshell going in, I think the girls would definitely feel threatened.

"I'm going to shake the entire villa up. They are not going to know what's hit them."

Ellie has been single for three years, and says her 'roster is pretty dry' as she hopes to find her husband. She claims that she is single because she 'falls in love really quickly'.

She said: "I could literally fall in love with a chair and then a week later be like, ‘Oh wait, no, that's a chair…’. I fall in love quickly because I build up a character of someone in my head and then they breathe in the wrong direction and I’m like, ‘Next!’."

Ellie says she has had 'about 500' bad dates, including one on which her date screamed at the waiter so hard that they were asked to leave. "Overconfident guys and men that think they can get any girl when they think they are so fit and a 10/10 when in actual fact they are none of the above," Ellie said, describing her ick. "I like confidence but not arrogance."

If Ellie is voted into the villa as the first bombshell, Love Island fans may notice that she has a scar on her leg. "When I was drunk I climbed over the gates of my friend's house, fell and almost lost my leg," she explained.

"I was in hospital for two weeks but they stitched me back up. It left me with a big scar on my leg but I’m so blasé about it, if I’m in a bikini you can’t not see it."

The male bombshell candidate is 23-year-old footballer Tom Clare. The Barnsley semi-professional footballer teased: "Obviously, if I'm the first bombshell to go into the villa, I'll be buzzing.

"If there's a girl I want and she's coupled up, then I will try my best to get that girl. Nine times out of ten I'll get her."

Winking, he added: "Ten times out of ten."

Describing what he'll bring to the villa, Tom said: "I’m a good laugh, a good vibe. I’m not snakey, I don’t like that kind of stuff. If I’ve got an issue with someone I’ll speak to them."

Tom says he is single because, ever since he broke up with his ex-girlfriend, nobody has made him think 'wow'. He added: "Until I have that, I’m not really going to settle for less. Not in a bad way, but the next person I get with, I want to marry."

But it will be a deal-breaker for Tom, whose football team director is Robbie Savage, if he encounters any 'stuck up' girls in the villa. "They can be a 10/10 but if they’re stuck up," he said, describing his icks.

"Another one for me is bad oral hygiene and a random one is ‘birthday make-up’ - you know when make-up is done professionally for an event and it’s just too much, like blue eyeshadow and stuff? Girls don’t need that."

A self-confessed High School Musical fan, Tom's future partner is in for a treat, as he seems to have a knack for romantic dates. Describing his most romantic rendezvous, Tom said: "In Dubai, we sat on the marina and had amazing drinks, that’s probably my best."

Voting opened at 8am today (Thursday, January 12) and is free via the Love Island App. The bombshell with the highest number of votes will be chosen to enter the villa, votes close at 9pm on Friday, January 13.

Love Island starts on Monday 16th January at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
