Following the recent passing of Bernard Hill, known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and Titanic, his former cast mates paid tribute to the esteemed actor at an event. Hill's acting career dates back to 1974 when he appeared in an episode of the British series Childhood. His breakthrough role came in 1982 in the drama series Boys from the Blackstuff.

Hill is most recognized for portraying King Theoden in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy and as the ship's captain in James Cameron's Titanic. Bernard Hill passed away on May 5, 2024, at the age of 79.

During a panel at Liverpool Comic Con, Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd, Sean Astin, and Dominic Monaghan, who played the four hobbits in the LotR trilogy, honored their late colleague. The actors shared heartfelt words about Hill, with Sean Astin describing him as intrepid, funny, gruff, irascible, and beautiful.

Billy Boyd praised Hill's portrayal of Tolkien's words, noting his ability to infuse realism into his performances. Elijah Wood later paid his respects on Twitter, quoting J.R.R. Tolkien and sharing a photo taken by Viggo Mortensen.
