London Pride Parade 2023: Route, date and where to watch

London is now well into Pride month and celebrators are gearing up for the main event, where hundreds of thousands of people are expected to march through the city.

Already in June, there has been a comedy festival and art exhibition to honour the LGBTQ+ community, while other events are continuing throughout the month and beyond.

Pride originates from the 1969 Stonewall Riots and has grown to become one of the biggest and most colourful events. Find out more about the history of the event here.

Here is your guide to the 2023 Pride march in London.

When is the Pride march?

The Pride march will be held on Saturday, July 1, from noon, at Hyde Park Corner. A grandstand in Haymarket will open from 11.30am.

Last year, 1.5 million people attended the parade, whether as part of the procession or watching the action.

What route is the Pride parade taking in 2023?

After leaving Hyde Park Corner, the parade will pass through Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, Trafalgar Square, and Whitehall.

The parade officially ends at Whitehall but those taking part are likely to head to Soho or Trafalgar Square, where there are set to be performances.

There are road-crossing points, toilets, and first-aid stations along the route.

How to watch the parade

The parade is free to attend and watch from the sidelines, although some spots might be easier to get a view than others. Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square are both likely to be very busy. But you may have better luck by Whitehall, towards the end, or Haymarket.

You can also get tickets to watch the parade at Haymarket’s grandstand.
