Buses in London will be wrapped in purple in a special tribute to the Queen to mark the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The eight buses will be in service from Friday and will run on selected routes passing by some of the iconic central London locations associated with the Royal family including Kensington Palace and Westminster Abbey, and Royal Parks such as Hyde Park and Green Park

The bus wraps will be in operation on selected buses on routes 6, 52, 98, 29, 319, 148, 65, 281,371, 205, 106, 212, 230, 357 and 270.

It is part of a series of tributes to the Queen from Transport for London, which will also see special celebratory messages played on the Jubilee line, new Elizabeth line and lines with a Royal link in their names throughout the bank holiday weekend, from Thursday June 2 to Sunday June 5.

London’s wider transport network can also expect to hear station announcements and digital displays to get visitors in the party spirit.

TFL expect services to be busy throughout the holiday weekend and have said there will be no planned closures to allow for maximum movement of people round the city.

The Night Tube services will be running on the Central, Jubilee and Victoria lines on Friday June 3 and Saturday June 4.

A special service will be in operation on the Elizabeth Line on Sunday 5 June from 8am to 10pm.

TFL services and central London roads may be busier than usual, particularly on Saturday night and Sunday daytime at key interchanges.

TfL’s chief operating officer Andy Lord said: “We are delighted to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen’s incredible achievement of becoming the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

“I am pleased that all of TfL’s public transport will be running with no planned closures and the Elizabeth line will be running a special service on the Sunday of the Jubilee weekend - but I encourage customers to check before you travel.”
