Liz Truss and Thérèse Coffey's unlikely friendship - and possible role for close pal

Liz Truss is expected to offer her right-hand woman Thérèse Coffey with a senior role in her Cabinet as she begins her new role.

Currently serving as the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Ms Coffey, 50, has a close friendship with Truss, with one colleague dubbing them "ying and yang."

The pair may have suprised some with their close friendship - Liz Truss a keen Thatcherite with a colourful personal life splashed across the papers, while Catholic Thérèse has been described as a team player on the left of the Tory party. But the Telegraph claims Truss, 47, has formed a formidable alliance with her fellow MP, and is hoping to offer her a senior role.
