A Liverpool city centre restaurant has been added to the prestigious Michelin Guide.
While the city's restaurants were again overlooked by the guide back in February as it announced the list of new stars, one restaurant has now been added to the guide in a new update. The French-based group which oversees the awarding of the prestigious accolade gave out 19 awards to establishments across the UK earlier this year- but none in Liverpool.
Now, Manifest on Watkinson Street has been added to the guide after Michelin inspectors revealed some of their favourite new additions. These newly recommended restaurants feature both on the Michelin website and the app.

Manifest opened its doors just four months ago, in March 2022, in the Baltic Triangle and offers a “modern British menu” and wine list. The restaurant is from the owners of The Little Shoe, the family run brasserie and micro bakery which had branches on Bold Street and in St George’s Hall before closing last year.
The restaurant's name, plus the menu, is inspired by the Baltic Triangle’s historic shipping trade. Owner and chef, Paul Duran, has created a “modern British menu with wine firmly in mind.”
About the restaurant, Michelin inspectors said: “Sandwiched between Liverpool’s Albert Docks and the Anglican Cathedral is an area known as the Baltic Triangle – chock full of former factories and warehouses now being converted into apartments, shops, offices, bars and restaurants. Set on the ground floor of one such conversion, Manifest rocks a retro, industrial feel thanks to the exposed brick and the steel supports still in situ.
“Seasonal modern British dishes are carefully cooked and come with complementary flavours and textures. Equal care has been lavished on the wine list, with each wine available by the glass as well as the bottle.”
Manifest’s team shared the news of its inclusion in the guide on Instagram and said they were “so proud”. The full post said: “Wow! So humbled. Never in a million years did we expect this and especially not after being open for just 19 weeks!
“So proud of the team and a massive thank you to everyone for the continued support #manifestliverpool”.
The February 2022 edition of the Michelin Guide named Liverpool’s closest starred restaurants as Fraiche in Birkenhead, Wirral with one star and Moor Hall in Ormskirk with two stars. Moor Hall’s sister restaurant The Barn also gained its first Michelin star this year.
