Lindsay Clancy trial: Single juror could prevent verdict as deliberations resume

  • The deadlocked jury in the Lindsay Clancy trial has entered its seventh day of deliberations following a note regarding a holdout juror that sparked a heated exchange between the judge and defense counsel.
  • The jury has twice informed Judge William Sullivan that it cannot reach a verdict on whether Clancy is criminally responsible for the 2023 strangulation deaths of her three young children.
  • Defense attorney Kevin Reddington accused Judge Sullivan of glossing over the holdout juror issue and urged him to forcefully reinstruct or dismiss the holdout juror, but the judge refused.
  • Clancy's defense maintains she suffered from severe postpartum psychosis during the killings and her subsequent suicide attempt, while prosecutors argue she acted deliberately after sending her husband out on errands.
  • If the jury remains unable to reach a unanimous decision, Judge Sullivan may declare a mistrial, forcing prosecutors to decide whether to retry Clancy, offer a plea deal, or dismiss the charges.
