A brand new trailer for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name debuted at Summer Game Fest as part of the E3 2023 announcement season.
This next in line in the long-running Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise sees the return of Kazuma Kiryu, and is launching November 9 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and Steam.
This stopgap Like a Dragon title looks to take place between the events of Yakuza 6 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and appears to tell the tale of what happened to Kiryu after the former, as his fate remained ambiguous at best.
It's a return to real-time action combat, whereas Yakuza: Like a Dragon pivoted to an interesting turn-based format. Either way, it's always great to receive more Yakuza content.
It seems like the events of Like a Dragon: Gaiden will lead up to the events of Like a Dragon 8, which is due to launch sometime in 2024, and will continue the story of new series protagonist Ichiban Kasuga.
Fans can also pre-order Like a Dragon: Gaiden to receive the Legendary Fighter Pack, which includes iconic series characters Daigo Dojima, Goro Majima and Taiga Saejima. Though it's unclear what roles these guys will play in the final release as of yet.
It's of course not the only Like a Dragon title to be launching in 2023. In February, RGG Studios released Like a Dragon: Ishin, a long-requested remake of the previously Japanese exclusive game.
In the meantime, if you're pining for some Yakuza action, you can download and play Yakuza: Like a Dragon on Xbox Game Pass right now. We consider the quirky RPG to be one of the best Xbox Game Pass games, and one of the best Xbox Series X games in general due to its excellent story, unique premise and fantastic sense of humor.
