The government has announced that more than 100 projects will be awarded a share of £2.1 billion from the second round of its Levelling Up Fund.
The transformational projects across the UK will include Eden Project North visitor attraction in Morecambe, a new AI campus in Blackpool, a new rail link in Cornwall, and a major regenerations scheme in Gateshead which hopes to create jobs. Meanwhile, £672 million will be used to develop better transport links, £821 million will be used to kick-start 'community regeneration, and £594 million will go towards restoring local heritage sites.
In total, 111 areas have been awarded the funding. The government confirmed that there will be another round of the Levelling Up Fund to give opportunities for more areas of the country.
