Let’s Make-Up: the new beauty launches to have on your radar in January 2024

In our monthly Let’s Make-Up round-up, we bring you a selection of the tried-and-tested, freshest, and buzziest beauty launches that are worth adding to your basket.

All types of lotions and potions across makeup, skincare, haircare and more land on our desks and we take it upon ourselves to review them all so you don’t have to. If we include it below, you know it’s a good ‘un.

January is a time for new beginnings and this month, high-powered formulas are in to replace your previous purposeless products that just aren’t up to the task. CeraVe is leading the pack with a new ointment unveiled on the 1st of the month after going viral on TikTok.

Meanwhile, Maison Francis Kurkdjian has changed tact with an unexpected unveiling, and Sol de Janeiro is proving its prowess with a sumptuous body butter to treat parched limbs.

For all this and plenty more besides, see our edit of the hottest beauty drops you need on your radar.

CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment

The people asked and CeraVe delivered: the Advanced Repair Ointment is finally launching in the UK after sending TikTokers wild. The hugely anticipated unveiling comes after receiving over 22 million views on the social media platform from anxious skincare enthusiasts keen to maximise the dry skin-soothing formula.

Much like the entirety of the New York-born brand’s collection, this ointment was developed in tandem with dermatologists and is a multitasking hydration hero created to support the skin’s barrier and encourage healing.

While you may think that a product of this type would be heavy, medicinal and greasy, this is far from the case, bringing a non-comedogenic composition packed with ceramides and hyaluronic acid to soothe conditions like eczema, psoriasis, general sensitives and dehydration or dryness.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Fragranced Fabric Care

Better known for Baccarat Rouge 540, the eponymous French perfumer is keeping its loyal fan base on their toes with a launch that breaks away from the typical candles and EDPs.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian has brought its fragrance expertise to the world of laundry soap with the aim of infusing the fresh, lively notes of Aqua Universalis into your wardrobe. This light and bright scent aroma brings the summer feeling all year long.

The range includes Universal Laundry Detergent for lights and darks alike, the Scented Fabric Softener or a combination as part of the Fabric Care Discovery Set.

Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter

Its loyal fan base waits with bated breath for each and every launch from Sol de Janeiro and the brand does not disappoint with the latest, Delícia Drench Body Butter. The body care is thicker in texture than its predecessor, Bum Bum Cream.

The whipped formula acts as a rich and nourishing moisturising to parched limbs, penetrating deeper than the surface layer to combat dry skin and bring moisture. It is made up of Brazilian Soothing Complex for calming, Prebiotic hibiscus to support the skin barrier and Bacuri butter for conditioning.

Fenty Beauty Glitty Lid Shimmer Liquid Eyeliner

Joining the expansive Fenty Beauty range is a disco-ready liner infused with glitter.

The pigmented product imparts a swipe of rich colour with a shimmer embellishment. The thin tip encourages a precise application and there are three hues available: silver, blue and purple.

Once set, the liner stays in place, resisting the likes of sweat, humidity, transference and smudging even despite its lightweight feel. Party on.

Maybelline Sky High Mascara

The legendary Sky High Colour Mascara has become a stalwart in makeup bags across the nation. In fact, it is so popular that it is oft dubbed the UK’s number one of the product type. The statement-making combination of lengthening and volumising is nothing short of transformational but while you could add both brown and black to your collection, the creativity ended there – until now.

Maybelline has added three shades to the collection dubbed Blue Mist, Pink Air and Burgundy Haze. Embrace 90s nostalgic with a vibrant blue, add an unmissable pop of pigment with pink or go for something out of the box with the burgundy.

No matter which you select, the Flex Tower brush will ensure no lash is left behind to reach ‘sky high’.

Jo Malone London Red Hibiscus Cologne Intense

Jo Malone has added the sumptuous scent of Red Hibiscus to its heady Cologne Intense collection. Unlike anything you’ll find in the luxury scents of the famed fragrance house, it takes inspiration from the exotic flower discovered in a tropical forest.

As such, a top note of mandarin leads into the heart of the solar floral. A touch of jasmine sambac is added before it becomes deeper and more sensual with a base of vanilla.

MERIT Flush Balm Rouge

The MERIT M.O. is to create effortless makeup essentials that you can slot in your cosmetics bag for ease of application no matter where you are. This is an idea that is immediately obvious the second you catch a glimpse of the Flush Balm Rouge. The mini transportable product can slip into the tiniest of handbags to bring a wash of colour to your complexion.

While it may feel creamy in texture, it imparts microfine pigment powders to enhance your natural skin without feeling cumbersome or cakey. The composition is also non-comedogenic to prevent a reaction, instead opting for vitamin E within to nourish.

JO LOVES New Fragrance Paintbrushes

Jo Malone is no stranger to revolutionising the scent space. She did this with her first eponymous brand and the same is true for her second label Jo Loves – a feat made immediately obvious by the launch of the Fragrance Paintbrush back in 2017.

The perfumer took on the hard-to-travel reputation of classic eau de parfums and transformed it into a portable, handbag-ready alternative with a brush applicator. Not content on resting on her laurels, four aromas join the collection - Amber, Lime & Bergamot, Rose Petal 25, Ebony & Cassis and Golden Gardenia. Simply 'paint' on and go.

Fresh Lotus AHA Gentle Resurfacing Serum

“We wanted to create an exfoliating serum that’s gentle enough on skin to be used every day, and that's when we had an "aha" moment”, explains Lev Glazman, fresh co-founder of Fresh Lotus.

Using glycolic and citric acids - two chemical exfoliating alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) as a gentle buffer, the product was designed to even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots.

The brand set these powerhouse components alongside an ingredient making waves in the skincare world, prickly pear flower extract. The combination leaves the skin smooth and radiant by removing dulling dead skin cells.

The gel-cream texture should be applied at night and has a delicate peach aroma.
