Legendary musician Jeff Beck has sadly passed away at the age of 78.
The guitarist died after contracting bacterial meningitis, a statement from his family has revealed.
His death was announced in a statement which was shared from his official Twitter account.
It read: "On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck's passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss."
The Grammy-winning guitarist rose to prominence with rock band The Yardbirds and went on to have a successful solo career and fronted the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice.
Last year, Jeff thrilled Scottish fans when he brought friend Johnny Depp on stage during a gig at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star was in the UK with the singer and joined his friend on vocals and guitar at the sold out show.
