Leeds United could be willing to allow Brenden Aaronson to leave Elland Road on loan this summer following their relegation from the Premier League. That’s according to Football Insider, who say the Whites may favour a loan move for the American international, in the hope that he can retain his market value.
It is claimed that Aaronson is already attracting interest from a number of clubs in the Bundesliga and it seems Leeds may be willing to let him go as part of an expected summer exodus. Aaronson only joined the Whites last year on a five-year deal, with the club splashing out close to £25million to secure his signature from Red Bull Salzburg.
Unfortunately, despite an impressive start to life in West Yorkshire, he appeared to struggle for confidence as the season progressed and he struggled for regular form and confidence as a result. He made 36 appearances in the Premier League, making him Leeds’ most used player, but he could only muster one goal and three assists.

Aaronson, who broke his silence on relegation on Sunday, reportedly has a relegation release clause in his contract at Elland Road, meaning he would be given the green light to leave Leeds should a club stump up the money to trigger it. However, the report claims a loan might be preferred, allowing him to leave the club on a temporary basis with the hope of building up his form once more before returning to Leeds, when a decision will then be made on his future.
Leeds are preparing for life in the Championship after finishing in the Premier League’s bottom three under Sam Allardyce and a host of players have already been linked away from the club. Building a squad that can challenge for Championship promotion will be high on the club’s list of priorities as they enter the off-season, but they also need to secure a new head coach and a director of football after parting ways with Victor Orta last month.
It remains to be seen, though, whether Aaronson will be part of Leeds’ plans as those pieces begin to fall into place.
