LeBron James reacts as his NBA-bound son produces standout performance

LeBron James’ eldest son Bronny showcased his own talent with a virtuoso performance in a high school tournament game on Friday night.

Bronny, whose real name is LeBron James Jr., is a senior at Sierra Canyon School from Los Angeles. Bronny starred and scored 31 points in the 82-64 win over Bishop Gorman High during the Top Flight Invite tournament in Las Vegas, showing off his offensive arsenal in style.

The 18-year-old was exceptionally efficient, shooting 11 of 13 from the floor including six of seven from three-point range. His highlight reel was posted on Twitter by SportsCenter NEXT and the clip garnered over 32,000 likes.

The clips of Bronny starring in the tournament went viral early Saturday morning, sparking chat around the basketball world regarding his talent and future in the NBA. His four-time MVP father - who is chasing the NBA’s all-time scoring record - tweeted: “He’s really H.I.M. Keep working Young [King]!!”

There was no shortage of admirers, with Hall of Fame point guard Isiah Thomas also posting his praise for Bronny. The two-time NBA champion wrote: “Bronny is cold!! I been telling y’all. He plays hoop the RIGHT way!!!”

James has frequently spoken his intentions to play alongside his son in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers star has revealed his dream is to play with Bronny in the league, suggesting it would be ‘an unbelievable moment’.

It appears the 37-year-old is intent on playing with Bronny in the NBA and will prolong his career in order to do so. James has declared he will do whatever it takes to extend his career until his son is drafted.

Speaking to The Athletic during the All-Star break earlier this year, James said: “My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny is at, that's where I'll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It's not about the money at that point.”

Bronny is regarded as one of the top high school prospects around the United States, and he is ranked as the number 39 prospect in the Class of 2023. Several top colleges around the country have reportedly reached out to him to lure the budding star to their program.

His mother, Savannah James, recently posted a heartfelt tribute to her son on Instagram, which included throwback images of Bronny as a baby. Bronny enjoyed a lavish party to celebrate his 18th birthday.

“I’m so proud of the man you have become,” she wrote in the post’s caption, “and I look forward to seeing you thrive and be great in the future!!!”
