Leatt goes from enduro to endurance with its brand-new XC and gravel clothing range

Leatt MTB Endurance & Gravel range.

Leatt is a South African brand whose bread and butter has been protective wear for gravity riders. With such a strong XC marathon and gravel riding scene in South Africa, it was only a matter of time until it branched out into XC and gravel.

Leatt partnered with Gregor Egger & Lukas Baum of Speed Company Racing (winners Cape Epic 2022, and 2nd 2023) to develop a brand-new range that includes helmets and clothing for gravel and XC mountain biking.

First off there is a new peakless XC and gravel helmet, Leatt's MTB Endurance helmets come in two versions and are equipped with Leatt's proprietary 360-degree Turbine Technology. The 360°Turbine inserts are designed to create a slip-plane between the helmet and head which Leatt says reduces peak brain acceleration by up to 30 percent at impact speeds associated with concussion, and peak brain rotational acceleration by up to 40 percent.

Both helmets use a lightweight polymer compound shell reinforced with a PowerBridge in-molded force absorber to help disperse impacts across the whole helmet. The helmets are certified and tested and meet EN1078, CPSC 1203, and ASTM F1447 standards.

Leatt hasn't overlooked the details either. The vents feature a sunglasses dock and a magnetic Fidlock buckle on the chin strap.

The MTB Endurance 3.0 and 4.0 are differentiated by the ventilation, the 3.0 features 19 vents but the 4.0 has 23 for increased airflow. The added vents also mean the MTB Endurance 4.0 is a bit lighter too, weighing in at a claimed 315g (unknown size).

Both helmets come in three sizes and a few different color options including Black, White, Aqua, and Granite for the 4.0 and Black, White, Red, Lime, and Cyan for the 3.0.

The Endurance 4.0 will cost $179.99 / £164.99 / €189.99 while the 3.0 retails for a little cheaper at $139.99 / £129.99 / €149.99.

Leatt has also added a whole range of clothing including cargo bib shorts, jerseys, jackets, gilets, and gloves.

The cargo bib shorts come in the premium race performance Endurance 6.0 bib which has a 'next to skin' fit and the Endurance 5.0 bib which has a more relaxed 'semi-aggressive' fit. Both shorts use a chamois pad from Elastic Interface with a Hybrid Cell System that has four different padding densities. For storage, both shorts have two pockets on the thigh and the 5.0 has two more on the lower back, while the racier 6.0 has a single small radio pocket at the rear.

There are both women's and men's versions that come in a range of different colors and designs. Sizing for the men ranges from XS to 3XL and the women between XS and XXL.

Another piece of clothing that stands out in the range is the Endurance 2.0 lightweight and packable jacket and gilet. Both these are said to offer a close fit due to the wind-resistant and DWR-treated (PFC-Free C0 Durable Water Repellent) four-way stretch material. What makes these outer layers stand out are the knitted mesh panels on the back, and in the jacket armholes, for increased ventilation.

Both items feature a rear pocket in which the jacket can be packed away and strapped to the bike for storage when it isn't being worn.

There are men's (XS-3XL) and women's (XS-2XL) fits available and a few different colors available. The jacket is priced at $129.99 / £119.99 / €139.99 and the gilet will retail for $89.99 / £89.99 / €99.99.

Leatt has also added two lightweight jerseys, a race 6.0 jersey and an endurance 5.0 jersey, plus long and short-fingered gloves to complete the range.
