Laura Whitmore quit Love Island as she wants to be taken seriously as an investigative reporter.
The Bray TV presenter stunned fans this week by announcing she was leaving the dating show after three seasons. Laura - who has been a model, an MTV video jockey, hosted Get Me Out Of Here Now and Survival of the Fittest and appeared on Strictly - claimed “new conflicting projects” clashed with future Love Island series.
And yesterday it was announced that she will now front a project called Laura Whitmore Investigates for the new streaming channel ITVX. Bosses claim she will “take on a series of controversial issues in immersive, investigative films”.

And they say Laura will be “using her journalism skills” to reveal new insights on subjects that fascinate her and have an impact on our lives. So far ITVX chiefs are refusing to reveal what the hot topics are.
Laura - who studied journalism at DCU in 2003 - said of her new venture: “It is a dream come true to have this platform and work with a brilliant team at ITV through this series of investigative films. Getting back to my journalistic roots, I hope we can shine a light on some really important topics and issues, and delve into a variety of serious and interesting real-life subjects.”
