A thug caught with a blade twice within four days has been jailed for more than three years.
John Crawford, 32, admitted possessing a bladed item in Laighmuir Street, Uddingston, on May 20 last year.
An allegation that he swung the weapon at Margaret Rose Bishop repeatedly, striking and injuring her once, was withdrawn.
Crawford also admitted possession of a blade in Fereneze Crescent, Hamilton, three days later and causing a disturbance on that occasion.
He further admitted culpably and recklessly exposing police officers to the risk of infection by spitting.
Jailing him for 38 months, Sheriff Liam Murphy told Crawford: "Given your record and the nature of the charges, there is no alternative to custody.
"I also want to protect the public when you are released so you will be under the supervision of social workers for 12 months at that time.
"You must also attend addiction recovery services."
The sentence was backdated as Crawford has been in custody since May last year.
