Lanarkshire politicians invite locals to attend cost-of-living event

Lanarkshire politicians are teaming together next month with a cost of living event to help local families.

Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley and Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse MSP Christina McKelvie will host the event in Hamilton on Friday, November 4.

A number of organisations including Citizens Advice, Home Energy Scotland, LAMH and Money Matters will be on hand to offer practical help and advice for constituents struggling with or worried about the cost-of-living crisis.

It will take place at the Town House in Hamilton between 12pm and 2.30pm.

Ms Crawley has vowed to speak for local residents at Westminster as they face financial struggles this year.

She told Lanarkshire Live : “As the cost-of-living crisis continues to spiral out of control, we wanted to offer whatever support we could to anyone who is worried or struggling to afford essentials.

“We’ve brought together several organisations who work in Hamilton, Larkhall and surrounding areas under one roof to try and help as many people as we can.

“Anyone who might need support is welcome to come along and I will continue to lobby at Westminster for fairer support to help my constituents through the cost-of-living crisis.”

Ms McKelvie added: “With so many different types of support from different organisations available to help those struggling due to the cost-of-living-crisis it can be a challenge to know where to turn.

“Having organisations like Citizens Advice and others together gives people the opportunity to hear first-hand what support is on offer directly from those offering support.

“I hope this will be some help to constituents who are looking for support during this challenging time.

“The Scottish Government have also pulled together a resource of cost-of-living help that is available and can be viewed here.
