Lakers Twitter reacts to Celtics winning 18th NBA championship

This was a disappointing season for the Los Angeles Lakers. They came into it with championship aspirations, but they won just 47 regular season games and were put down in the first round of the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets, the same team that swept them out of the Western Conference Finals in 2023.

But on Monday evening, it got even worse for Lakers fans, as the Boston Celtics clinched their 18th NBA championship with a Game 5 finals win over the Dallas Mavericks. The Celtics have now surpassed the Lakers for the most titles in league history.

Just a reminder not all championships are created equal. Celtics won 11 of their (now 18) championships when there was only 8 teams in the NBA. Lakers have 17 championships and at least one in every decade of the modern NBA
