Labourer dies after falling from 3rd floor of under-construction building in Delhi

NEW DELHI: After falling from the third floor of an under-construction building in south Delhi's Maidan Garhi, a 32-year-old labourer died on Thursday, police said.

Police reached the spot at Aggarwal Farms and found Ali Usman, a resident of Gautam Budh Nagar (Uttar Pradesh), dead. His younger brother Rafi Usman (28) was also found present there, a senior police officer said.

Probe revealed that the deceased was transporting raw material from the ground floor to third floor. During this, Usman fell from the third floor. The stairs of the building did not have railing or alternate safety measures, the DCP said.

The body was shifted to AIIMS hospital where the post-mortem will be conducted, police said.

A case under sections 288 (negligent conduct with respect to pulling down or repairing buildings) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code is being registered against the owner of the property, police said.
