Los Angeles County health inspectors returned to the burned Boyle Heights cold storage warehouse and found what a routine inspection is designed to catch and what a fire had made unavoidable: decaying organic waste, wastewater and food residue inside two freezers, live and dead flies throughout the building, and more than 20 fly larvae on exterior sheeting, the adjacent sidewalk and the street along Union Pacific Avenue.
On July 23, the county issued an administrative citation against Lineage Logistics, fining the company the maximum $500 per day until the violations are corrected, according to the Department of Public Health. Additional citations may follow if later inspections find continued noncompliance.
