Kylian Mbappe drops three-word verdict on Arsenal icon Thierry Henry after what he did for PSG

Kylian Mbappe emulated Arsenal and France icon Thierry Henry after he scored a late winner for Paris Saint-Germain on Friday.

The Frenchman found the net in stoppage time for the Ligue 1 giants against Rennes to claim yet another three points as Mauricio Pochettino ’s men continued their relentless pursuit of the domestic crown.

It moved Les Parisiens 16 points clear at the top of the table but despite that, they were still made to work for their victory.

There was little between the two teams throughout the evening, with Mbappe even having a strike ruled out just after the hour mark due to the linesman’s flag.

However, his late strike did end up counting as he scored with a placed, right-footed finish.

Immediately after finding the net, Mbappe ran to the corner flag and rested his arm to take the acclaim of both the PSG faithful and his own teammates.

The image provoked memories of Henry doing the same at the 1998 World Cup. Having netted against Saudi Arabia, the Arsenal icon also ran up to the corner flag, posing with his hands on his hips.

Following his celebration, Mbappe took to Twitter to hail Henry with an image of the pair doing the celebration alongside the caption "big up legend" with a wink emoji.

Despite the compliments, Henry has previously disputed that the pair should be compared despite obvious similarities in their playing styles and career trajectories.

Speaking last year, he said: "But, the one that always comes close and everyone does repeat, because we're from the suburbs of Paris, we both played for Monaco first, and so on, is Kylian Mbappe. That's why people always compare me to him.

"I don't particularly like it. Not because of what I did. It's not about that.

"I think everyone has their own way, and he's Mbappé. I actually love him, by the way. The way he plays is just crazy.

"But he's him, I was me. But if I have someone here killing me to say something, I would say Mbappe [is most similar]."
