KSI considered making an approach to Tommy Fury before choosing two different opponents to replace Alex Wassabi.
The YouTube star will make his ring return this weekend when he takes on two opponents in the shape of rapper Swarmz - real name Brendan Scott and professional fighter Luis Alcaraz Pineda. It will be his first fight since defeating previous rival Logan Paul in a high-profile rematch as he looks to tread his next path to facing Logan's brother Jake.
KSI - real name JJ Olatunji - was set to face YouTube rival Wassabi at London's O2 arena this Saturday, but he pulled out due to a "serious injury". However Wasserman Boxing promoter Kalle Sauerland has revealed that the team explored the opportunity of approaching Fury before it was deemed too short notice.
"We didn't approach him but we were thinking about it before we went down the two fight route," Sauerland said at the yesterday's open workout. "We were thinking about putting the feelers out there but we understood he wasn't in the right physical shape to come in on shorter notice which is fair enough. But yeah why not in the future?"
YouTube star KSI and Fury have traded verbal barbs over a fight in the past ever since the former won his rematch with Paul back in 2019. Fury revealed he watched the fight between Paul and KSI and had a desire to fight him if an offer was made. He told Seconds Out : "I was sat in the hotel room, it was about 10 o'clock and I thought, 'do you know what, Logan Paul and KSI are fighting tonight. Ok, a lot of people are jumping on it. I'll have a watch.'
"I thought it was a very entertaining fight, a very entertaining fight, and I wasn't aware that KSI still wanted to fight afterwards. I thought he was just gonna fight Logan afterwards and that was it. "You know, I'm a fighting man, I'm no amateur. We're both from the influencer background, he's from the YouTube side, I'm from the Love Island /reality TV side.

"Let's get it on. If he wants a real fight, he knows where I am." Fury instead formed a rivalry with KSI's other rival Jake, who he signed to face on two separate occasions but the fight has yet to materialise. KSI also proposed that Fury fight Paul on his undercard, after their fight collapsed with Fury unable to travel to the US.
However Paul issued a quickly dismissive response on Twitter, writing: "I play chess, you play checkers. Your opponent is repped by me and I know a lot more about your business than you would like. You are not on my level in boxing or the boxing business."
