Kris Boyd tells Alfredo Morelos his Rangers time is up as brutal Kyogo comparison illustrates Michael Beale frustration

Kris Boyd has issued a damning verdict on Alfredo Morelos’ Rangers future, insisting the Colombian’s time at the club is up.

Antonio Colak was given the nod against Kilmarnock with Morelos left to cool his heels on the bench. The Croat didn’t find the net, but impressed on his return to the starting line-up as Michael Beale’s men ran out 3-1 winners at Ibrox. Boyd rates Morelos higher than Colak, but believes the big forward’s attitude and application have him ahead of his lacklustre teammate in the pecking order.

He compared El Buffalo to Kyogo Furuhashi as an example of the difference between Gers and their city rivals. With Morelos out of contract in the summer, Boyd is convinced Beale as at the end of his tether with Morelos and can't see a future for him in Govan, with Colak tipped to play for the remainder of the campaign.

“Antonio Colak is low maintenance and you're only as good as your strikers," he told Sky. "That’s the clear difference from Rangers to Celtic at this moment in time.

“Celtic have got one (Kyogo) who’ll turn up for his work constantly and put in a shift every single week. Rangers don’t have that when Morelos plays.

“You look at Colak and I don't think he’s an all round as good a player as Alfredo Morelos. But he applies himself properly. Rangers don’t have a dilemma for me.

"I think his time is up. I’ve said that and I think Michael Beale is probably becoming frustrated with him now as well, hence the reason why he didn’t play yesterday.

“Colak is obviously under contract going forward and they’re going to have to work with him at this moment in time. Looking at it right now, I can't see a future at Rangers for Alfredo Morelos.”
