Ko Itakura admits he is "happy" that Celtic are interest in landing the defender again this summer.
The Manchester City defender looks to have no shortage of options this summer after Schalke turned down their option to buy.
The Parkhead side have been named as an interest party this summer, with SC Freiburg, Fulham and Bournemouth reportedly waiting in the wings.
The 25-year-old was linked with a loan move to Celtic last summer before opting to take his chance in 2. Bundesliga.
He is currently featuring for Japan alongside Kyogo Furuhashi and Dazien Maeda as he plans his next move.
And speaking ahead of Monday's clash with Brazil, he conceded he was delighted to be mentioned alongside sides like Celtic.
When asked about interest from Parkhead during the pre-match press conference, he said: "I'm very happy to hear that story because I've seen it in the news.
"Firstly, I want to go where I am needed. I haven't decided on a team yet, no.
"I want to help myself by taking for myself before I decide to go. "
