Fans of popular treat KitKat have been complaining after some of the bars were solid chocolate without the expected wafer bits. The online grumbles have been greated with some hilarious responses.
News reports and twitter posts have shown people feeling non-plused when biting down on their favourite bar and finding things weren't as they should be. But many of the responses are not exactly sympathetic, BirminghamLive reports.
And in a further twist, some of those who had a solid bar thought it was great. The manufacturing quirk is not new, but has sparked fresh debate on social media.
Nicky Rose said on twitter: "I felt robbed of the wafer. I expect to have a wafer so I threw them in the bin."
Newsies fumed: "I've had this happen twice. I remember the first time like yesterday...I was stunned. Felt like I got the Golden Ticket! All Kit Kat chocolate??? Mmm. But after a few bites, my stomach was aching. Way too sweet.
Laughing Keith Lewington responded: "My deepest condolences at the loss of your wafer. I do know that time can heal the pain and suffering you must be going through. I once had a tin of Quality Street that had no strawberry ones inside. I was devastated for weeks. It ruined Christmas."
Mark Summers joked: "Pandemic, potential nuclear war and now this. It's just one thing after another."
Emily Williams said: "I was in this situation when I was 9 years old. My excruciating choice was between writing a letter of complaint and potentially receiving an unknown quantity of free KitKats some weeks later, or eating the wafer-free version there and then. You already know what I did"
Jonathan chadwick said: "Just had a kikat that was solid chocolate. Wow more please." Terry wrote: "I had a solid chocolate Kitkat once, didn't make the national news though."
Sarah Walter wrote: "On the rare occasion I get a kitkat without any wafer, I am pleased, as can't beat a bit of solid chocolate." Andy Smith wrote: "Solid chocolate KitKat has improved my day so much."
