“Kirk Hammett gave me one of his Greenies. I’ve been having fun with that”: Alex Lifeson is taking a Metallica signature guitar on the road with him for Rush’s reunion

Kirk Hammett Alex Lifeson Rush Geddy Lee Neil Peart Guitar World
Alex Lifeson performs onstage during the Medlock Krieger All Star Concert benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at Saddle Rock Ranch on October 28, 2018 in Malibu, California.

As Rush prepares to make their grand return to touring next month, Alex Lifeson has been discussing what’s in his reunion rig – and a copy of Kirk Hammett’s legendary Greeny is a surprise addition.

Lifeson, Geddy Lee, and former Jeff Beck drummer Anika Nilles will kick off the Fifty Something tour in Los Angeles on June 7. It’s the band’s first tour without stalwart drummer Neil Peart, who passed away in 2020.
