Murieston United was abuzz with budding soccer stars at Football Buzz’s Fun 4s festival last week.
Around 140 children from several clubs across six different regions travelled to Livingston to take part in the festival – which was open to teams in the 2015 and 2016 age brackets.
The host club were joined by Bannockburn AFC, Blantyre Victoria Youth, Gairdoch United, Lauriston Thistle, Mossend, Templehall United and Whitburn FCA at the event with medals and trophies being handed out by former Murieston United players Lauren Evans and Evie Swan, now at SWPL1 clubs Hamilton Accies and Celtic.
Football Buzz owner Martin McCann said: “It was brilliant to see so many kids out there playing football and having fun.
“These age groups were impacted greatly due to the lockdown so this was actually the first tournament like this they’d been able to be part of and we’re delighted with how it went.
“Teams from six different regions took part which makes it a bit more fun for the clubs as well because they’re getting the chance to play against new teams and make new pals.
“Murieston were brilliant hosts and hopefully this is the first of many football festivals we’ll be running over the course of the rest of the year.”
He added: “Having Lauren and Evie, who were both ex-Murieston United players, was brilliant. It gives the youngsters role models and they can see that they can go on and play at a top level having started playing at their local clubs.”
