Kevin Clancy 'bottled' Aberdeen red card claims Hearts hero John Robertson as he lets rip over Gorgie flashpoint

John Robertson has hammered Kevin Clancy for failing to show Marley Watkins a second yellow card in a pressure cooker clash between Hearts and Aberdeen.

It's a mouthwatering game where the Dons know a big Premiership win eliminates the Jambos in the race for Europe. A Hearts win meanwhile puts them right back in the thick of things but a Mattie Pollock opener for the away side did not help the Tynecastle hosts' cause.

Welsh attacker Watkins had already been booked in the game and appeared to block Barrie McKay as the game turned frantic following Pollock's Aberdeen opener. And Jambos legend Robertson has fumed over Clancy's decision not to dish out a second booking. He said on Sportsound: "I think Marley Watkins is a lucky man. He has did that right in front of Kevin Clancy and if Kevin Clancy is going over...

"He knows that Watkins has blocked that and he knows he would have had to have sent him off. I think Kevin Clancy has bottled that decision to be brutally honest."

Dons legend Willie Miller could not defend the attacker at his former club. He added: "It looked very deliberate as Barrie McKay was trying to get back, and Marley Watkins has blocked him, taken him out the game."
