Kevin Byard, Bears Agree to Two-Year Contract, per Report

Veteran safety Kevin Byard and the Chicago Bears agreed on a two-year contract Sunday, according to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports.

Byard, who was named first-team All-Pro in 2017 and ’21, finished last season with the Philadelphia Eagles after a midseason trade from the Tennessee Titans.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the signing and reports the total base salary on the pact is $15 million. Byard, 30, was eligible to sign with the Bears ahead of the new NFL calendar year because he was released earlier this month.

Kevin Byard reportedly is heading to the Chicago Bears after recording a career-high 122 tackles last season.

Byard recorded a career-high 122 tackles and one interception in 16 games last season (six with the Titans, 10 with the Eagles). He boasts 28 career interceptions, including an NFL-best eight with Tennessee in 2017.

Byard was acquired by the Eagles for safety Terrell Edmunds and a fifth- and sixth-round pick in this year’s draft. Byard was a third-round pick of the Titans in 2016 out of Middle Tennessee State.
