Kenny Miller names Rangers' best striker as he highlights key differences between Morelos and Colak

Kenny Miller has named the best version of Alfredo Morelos as Rangers' No1 striker and has tipped him to start against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Colombian striker once again had to make do with a place on the bench as he came on in the final stages to fire past Craig Gordon in the 4-0 win over Hearts at Tynecastle. Summer recruit Antonio Colak took his tally for the season to 11 in all competitions and eight in eight appearances in the league with a stunning header and finish as he continues to settle into life at Ibrox at rapid pace.

During a discussion on BBC Sportsound former Tynecastle boss Craig Levein suggest that the Colombian hitman has not had enough competition to challenge him for the top position in the line-up, however Miller hit back and used the upturn in form when Jermain Defoe arrived at the club and now believes similar could happen with Colak.

Levin said: “There hasn’t been enough competition for Morelos in the past."

Miller responded: “I think there was an upturn of performances from him when Jermain Defoe came to the club.

“Jermain helped him a lot even though they were completely different players at completely different points in their career, he was good for him on a daily basis in training.

“I think at that point. If Morelos was not up to the standard, then Defoe could come in and give you something, because he is capable. If he played he would score."

He continued: “You now have two players in Morelos and Colak who are at the top of their game who you would expect to play.

“Morelos had his wee spat, he spit the dummy out earlier in the year and Gio dealt with that well, and he is back in the fold now.

“You even see him celebrating with Colak, when he might have tried to chin him earlier in the season!”

On the best striker available to boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, he added: “The best version of Morelos is Rangers’ best striker. I don't think there's any doubt about that.

“He brings so much more to the team, he’s more mobile, he’s quicker and more aggressive. I think he will play him on Tuesday night against Liverpool.”
