Keith Earls is happy to drive on for Munster and Ireland having signed a contract extension to the end of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Earls will turn 36 during the finals in France and, if he stays fit, is certain to have played 100 times for his country by the time the World Cup starts.
If he makes it to France, it will be his fourth World Cup.
The Limerick flyer is already on 96 caps for Ireland and has scored 34 international tries, making him Ireland’s second most prolific try scorer of all time behind Brian O’Driscoll.
Grand Slam winner Earls was not available for most of the Six Nations earlier this year through injury, but did feature in all three of Ireland’s Autumn Nations Series victories last November.
"Really happy to extend my contract with Irish Rugby and Munster until the end of the Rugby World Cup in France," said Earls, who is closing in on 200 appearances for his province.
"This Ireland squad haven’t shied away from stating their ambition for the World Cup and I want to continue to be a part of that journey.
"Munster’s squad is developing quality depth with lots of talent coming through the Academy and province’s clubs and schools and the new coaching group will be looking to drive the province on again to the next level."
David Nucifora, IRFU Performance Director, commented: "Keith is an integral part of the leadership group in the national set up, and his experience and game understanding continues to produce quality performances.
"He is also playing a strong role in guiding less experienced players and developing their understanding of what it takes to compete at the international level."
Meanwhile, Ulster lock Mick Kearney has announced his retirement at the age of 31.
Dubliner Kearney, who represented Connacht, Leinster and Zebre before joining Ulster for this season, was released by the province last week.
"Whilst the unknown is somewhat daunting, and I'm sure the next chapter will have its challenges. I'm happy to be able to finish on my own terms, and I'm excited for what's to come," said Kearney, who has made over 150 appearances at senior level.
