Karol G Responds to the Controversy Around Her New Song '+57'

In Spanish

Just days ago, Karol G released her new collaboration, "+57," featuring J Balvin, Ryan Castro, Feid, Blessd, and other Colombian artists. The song quickly generated excitement and became one of the most-streamed tracks on digital platforms. However, despite the song's immediate success, its lyrics sparked controversy. Some interpreted certain lines as inappropriate references to minors, leading to criticism on social media and in the press.

Karol G broke her silence in response to the growing backlash, posting a statement on Instagram. She felt "deeply affected" by the criticism and regretted that "misinformation" had fueled the controversy.

The singer clarified that she hasn't been active on Twitter for six months and voiced frustration over false online posts. She emphasized that '+57' was meant to celebrate Colombian culture and urban music without hidden meanings or double entendres.

"Unfortunately, the lyrics were taken out of context," she explained, underscoring that no part of the song was intended to be interpreted as it has been.

The public's response has been mixed. While some support Karol G, recognizing her contributions to Latin music, others continue to criticize what they see as an irresponsible message. On social media, reactions have been polarized: some users defend the artist, arguing her intentions were positive, while others call for greater responsibility in content aimed at younger audiences.

The lyrics of '+57' were intended to celebrate Colombian identity, referencing the country's international dialing code. Despite this, certain verses were perceived as inappropriate, sparking an intense debate online. Critics argued that parts of the song might sexualize minors, which many found unacceptable. This perception led significant outlets, including Rolling Stone, to question the lyrics and their potential to normalize problematic behavior.

Despite the criticism, '+57' continues to climb the charts, highlighting Karol G's challenge in balancing her success with societal expectations regarding her music's content.
