BOSTON – Karine Silva beat Maryna Moroz with a first-round submission Saturday to open up the preliminary card at UFC 292 at TD Garden in Boston.

Silva on the fight's key moment
“I’m very happy. I did not know there was a second remaining. Actually, I just wasn’t going to let her go. because that’s the instruction that we have – just never let her go until the referee stops the fight. But I’m glad it happened – very happy. I’m anxious to watch my fight again so I can see the one second happening. I think that’s when finally it’s going to settle in that I was able to do that with a second to go.”
Silva on her progression
“I wouldn’t even call it early in my career. We’ve been working so hard for this to happen, and it’s steps that we keep building in order just to take them. We’re going to continue to work and to see where I can get. These are just steps and they have been going on for quite some time.”
Silva on what she wants next
“This is something I want to sit down with my coaches and managers and figure out. We’re going to discuss when to fight again. Who knows – we may actually end up fighting in Sao Paulo. We might ask for that fight. If there is an opponent, obviously we’ll take that fight.”
