KANPUR: Police on Tuesday arrested four persons, including a couple and their nephew, who had killed the son of a former district BJP president in Bhognipur Kotwali police area of Kanpur Dehat district a couple of days ago.
Police have recovered hammer and bamboo stick used in killing the victim. The accused have confessed of attacking the son of the BJP leader in a fit of rage.
The minor son of the couple, after being taken into custody, was sent to the Child Shelter Home in Etawah.
SP Kanpur Dehat Swapnil Mamgain said that the former district vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Amresh, son of former BJP district president Rajesh Tiwari, a resident of Pukhrayan town, along with his friends, had gone to protest against encroachment of a government land near the Intensive Area Development Committee on Saturday night.
Ghanshyam Pal, his wife Urmila, his minor son and his nephew Bharat, a resident of Nariha area of the district, killed Amresh by hitting him with a brick, stick, stone and a hammer, the SP said. The deceased's brother Tripuresh had lodged an FIR in this regard, he added.
“Tripuresh in his complaint alleged that Ghanshyam, his wife Urmila, their son and nephew Bharat killed his brother after he stopped them from encroaching a government land,” the SP said.
In-charge of Bhognipur police station Rajesh Kumar Singh, SSI Ranjit Singh along with the team arrested Ghanshyam, his wife and his nephew and also took into custody his minor son. During interrogation, Ghanshyam said that in a fit of rage he had attacked Amresh when he came with his friends.
The police team has been awarded with a cash prize of Rs 25,000, the ASP added.TNN
