Bears quarterback Justin Fields is entering just his third NFL season this year, and he already thinks he’s one of the best running quarterbacks the league has ever seen.
When asked on the All Things Covered podcast who his top five running quarterbacks in NFL history were, Fields didn’t hesitate to add himself to the list.
“I’m definitely in the top five,” Fields said.
The Bears starter went on to say his top five listed are in no particular order, so fans won’t know where exactly he puts himself on that list. Fields listed Michael Vick, Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson and Steve Young to round out his top five ranking.

Fans quickly recognized other notable players Fields forgot to list in his top five, including Randall Cunningham and Bobby Douglass, to name a few.
Fields did have a record year in terms of rushing yards in 2022, as he became just the third quarterback in history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. He finished with 1,143, just 64 yards short of Jackson’s single-season record at the position.

However, some fans thought it may be too early for Fields to put himself on that list, seeing as he’s started just 25 NFL games in his career due to various injuries. In that time, he’s rushed for a total 1,563 yards and 10 touchdowns on 232 attempts, while posting a 5–20 overall record as a starter.
