In a recent speech, Attorney General Merrick Garland highlighted the efforts of the Justice Department in pursuing accountability for the January 6th insurrection. Garland reported that over 1,250 individuals have been charged so far, with over 890 convictions obtained in connection with the attack. Undeterred, the Justice Department remains committed to holding all perpetrators accountable under the law.
The impact of the insurrection on law enforcement officers was also discussed during the speech. Although it has been widely reported that around 140 officers were injured, it has now come to light that the number of affected officers is even greater. Many officers experienced trauma and other injuries that went uncounted, adding to the toll inflicted by the assailants captured in the infamous videos of that fateful day.
