President-elect Donald Trump's announcement of his intention to nominate Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz as attorney general has sent shockwaves through the Justice Department and the US attorney's office in Washington, DC.

According to a department employee, there was an audible reaction inside the Justice Department headquarters when the news broke. The employee described the shock as intense, indicating the surprise and disbelief among staff members.
