A jury has been discharged in the trial of a man accused of a chainsaw attack north of Brisbane.
Gary John Salter, 37, had pleaded not guilty to one count of wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in Brisbane District Court.
Acting Judge Katarina Prskalo allowed the defence's application for the two-day trial to be abandoned.
Salter was charged after a man - who was 51 at the time - was allegedly hit in the right arm and torso with a chainsaw outside his Burpengary East residence in the early hours in June 2021.
The man said he had been woken up by his son and went outside his house to investigate a street party "ruckus".
