Tottenham Hotspur have undergone a dramatic turnaround in form over the past two months in which they have gone from top four outsiders to odds on favourites to achieve UEFA Champions League football next season.
A defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday brought an end to their four game winning streak but Spurs still occupy a three point gap over fifth-placed Manchester United and there is no ignoring the fact that Antonio Conte is beginning to steer the club in the right direction.
And even those such as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp have taken notice of Tottenham ’s recent run of form, with the German even going as far as labelling Conte’s side as “incredible” following their recent efforts.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League fixture with Man United on Tuesday, as reported by the Evening Standard, Klopp said: “If you are [fifth] in the Premier League it means you are a quality side.
“Because with all the opponents you have, it’s madness how consistent you have to be to get somehow close to that area. You see Tottenham flying in the moment and then get a little drop [at the weekend], but the quality they have is incredible.”
Tottenham still need to face Liverpool before the season is out, with the two clubs facing off at Anfield on May 7 as they both chase individual goals of winning the title and achieving a top four finish respectively, having already played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in north London back in December.

But as Klopp reiterated, Spurs are certainly flying at the moment and their defeat to Brighton should not overshadow that recent form. Conte’s side will be keen to put things right against Brentford this weekend by returning to winning ways and proving that Saturday’s defeat was a mere blip.
It should also be worth noting that the Seagulls had already claimed three points in north London just a week before, after sealing a 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Perhaps Graham Potter’s side deserve some praise and they were just the better side on the day.
Spurs will be expected to regain their attacking nous of recent weeks and leave the Brentford Community Stadium with all three points this weekend, with the attacking trio of Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane getting back to their frightening best.
Taking into consideration the level that Klopp’s Reds are playing at and the sheer depth and quality within their squad, as they go neck-and-neck for the title with Manchester City, then Spurs must possess something special for the German to be impressed this much.
The front three of Kulusevski, Son and Kane has been labelled as among the strongest in the league by many in recent weeks, while the likes of Lloris, Romero and Bentancur resemble some of the best players in their positions in the top flight.
Conte and his side must not let that Brighton result derail their season. They’ve shown in recent weeks just how deadly they can be, and if they can secure a top four finish this season, then Klopp may even be worried as to just how “incredible” they may become next campaign.
