Julian Alvarez back among the goals as young Man City keepers continue to shine on loan

Manchester City's current squad are heading into the international break in good spirits.

A 4-1 victory over Southampton in the FA Cup on Sunday ensured that the Blues remain battling on three fronts heading into the business end of the season. Some of City's current squad find themselves plying their trades away from the Etihad Stadium.

From League One to La Liga, the Blues have a number of their younger players out gaining experience in the game. MEN Sport has decided to take a look at how ten of them have been getting on so far.

Julian Alvarez

City grabbed plenty of attention when they signed Alvarez from River Plate in January. The youngster was immediately sent back on loan to his former club until the summer.

Since then, River Plate's new campaign began in February. In seven appearances, Alvarez has scored five goals but this figure is marginally skewed by a hat-trick against Patronato.

Alvarez recently ended a short two game goal drought against Gimnasia. Before then, the 22-year-old had failed to score against Newell's Old Boys and Racing Club.

Issa Kabore

Kabore has had a good season so far for ESTAC Troyes but his most notable performances were saved for the Africa Cup of Nations. The Burkina Faso international claimed the Best Young Player award at the competition as his country reached the last four.

Back in France, Kabore has made 23 appearances for the club, grabbing two assists in that time. In recent weeks, he has become a starter in Ligue 1 but was left out of the squad that faced Saint Etienne on Friday.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis

Harwood-Bellis spent the first part of the season on loan at Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht before being dropped to the bench before the end of his time in Belgium. He returned to England with 19 games under his belt.

The 20-year-old was quickly sent out on another loan spell this time in the Championship with Stoke City. Since arriving in Staffordshire, Harwood-Bellis has become undroppable starting every game for his temporary club.

Morgan Rogers

Rogers' loan spell on the South Coast with AFC Bournemouth has been largely disappointing for the 19-year-old. The youngster has largely made appearances off the bench for the Cherries as they push for promotion back to the Premier League.

With just one goal to his name in a defeat to Luton Town, Rogers has been dropped from the squad entirely. He has only made 17 appearances in all competitions this season.

Filip Stevanovic

The 19-year-old Serbian winger has had a mixed spell over in Holland with Heerenveen. Two goals and an assist in the Eredivisie has failed to light up the division.

However, despite missing three league matches through injury, Stevanovic has still been called up for his country's U21s. His time on the field in the Netherlands though has been restricted to substitute appearances.

Arijanet Muric

The Kosovo goalkeeper has established himself as the number one at Adana Demirspor over in Turkey. Muric started the season as first choice but was soon dropped to the bench following a 4-0 hammering by Karagumruk.

Following six games on the bench, Muric returned and has not been dropped since. In 25 appearances he has kept nine clean sheets and conceded just 23 goals.

Tommy Doyle

Similarly to Harwood-Bellis, Doyle has spent time at two clubs this season. His campaign started at Hamburger but after spending four games on the bench and having to take special leave for a draw with Dynamo Dresden and cup victory over FC Koln, Doyle returned to City.

In January he moved to Cardiff City in the Championship and has so far made 12 appearances for the club scoring two goals and gaining an assist. For the most part, Doyle has been a regular starter over in South Wales.

Yangel Herrera

Over in Spain's La Liga, Yangel Herrera has been enjoying a loan spell at Espanyol. His season did not start until October due to a tibia fracture but he returned to action in a draw against Elche.

Herrera made regular appearances before being dropped from the squad in late December and January. He has since returned but he can only boast one goal and an assist to his name.

Gavin Bazunu

The 20-year-old Irishman is thoroughly enjoying himself down in League One with Portsmouth. He has established himself as Pompey's number one so far this season.

In 37 appearances, the youngster has kept an impressive 15 clean sheets despite his club only sitting in mid-table. His form helped him gain a place on the bench for the Republic of Ireland during their victory over Qatar.

Finley Burns

Burns has had to settle for a backup role at Swansea City so far this campaign. The 18-year-old started against Sheffield United but a 4-0 defeat saw him succumbed to the bench.

Despite five games as an unused substitute, Burns did get 45 minutes to impress against Birmingham City in a 0-0 stalemate. The 18-year-old will be hoping that he can continue to gain playing time with the Swans.
