Josip Juranovic Celtic transfer value rated as 'massive money' rubbished amid Manchester United and Barcelona interest

Sceptical James McFadden reckons Celtic should not be expecting "massive money" for Josip Juranovic despite the defender attracting interest from European heavyweights.

The World Cup performances from the Croat have sent the rumour mill into overdrive with Barcelona emerging as the latest high-profile name to be touted with a bid for the Croat. Torino, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United have all reportedly scouting the 27-year-old in recent months and the Scottish Premiership champions will hope to start a bidding war among superclubs with bumper budgets.

Despite the skyrocketing reputation of Juranovic, former Scotland international turned pundit McFadden reckons Celtic will likely have to settle on a lowball offer for the defender. He told Open Goal that he expected the Hoops to cash-in on their prize asset amid stalled contract talks and following the addition of Canada international Alistair Johnston. The former Everton star said: “It looks like he’s going to be away.

"His performances at the World Cup (and) the teams that are mentioned, you would expect it that he’ll be away. I don’t think it will be massive money, but it’ll be a nice profit on £2.5m. For a Scottish team to get £15-£20m it’s incredible, but for these big teams it’s not a massive outlay for the. I don’t think it will be massive, massive money but it will still be good for a guy you signed for £2.5m a year and a half ago.”
