Jon Snow trusted me to film him with Alzheimer’s. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done

He’s spent over half a century on our screens, and is one of the most revered broadcasters of his generation. As the face of Channel 4 News, where he worked for 32 years, he covered everything from the fall of the Berlin wall to Barack Obama’s inauguration. He interviewed Nelson Mandela straight out of prison, and faced down Margaret Thatcher no fewer than 20 times. So to see Jon Snow sitting in a doctor’s surgery, and struggling to remember the three words – “bus”, “door” and “rose” – that had been spoken to him mere moments earlier, came as a real shock.
