Boris Johnson has been criticised by Whitehall’s appointments watchdog for allegedly failing to explain his dealings with the Saudi crown prince after leaving his role as prime minister.

Last month, a series of media reports claimed Mr Johnson lobbied a senior Saudi official he met while in office to share a pitch with Mohammed bin Salman.
