The Office for Products, Safety and Standards (OPSS) has recalled products this month due to various risks they pose on customers.
Some of the safety fears include risk of choking, drowning, electrical shocks and chemical risks.
When the OPSS issues a recall, it shares details on what you should do if you have bought the item, what is happening with the item, as well as detailed information on why the product is being pulled from shelves.

Murder Motel vampire kit sold by Poundstretcher (2302-0150)
Type: Toys - vampire kit (teeth and blood)
Brand: Murder Motel
Hazard: The product has been recalled because it presents a risk of choking as the teeth included are too brittle and can break. This was found to be caused by too much regrind being added. The broken sections fit into a small parts cylinder, and therefore could cause the user to choke.

Product Description: A ‘vampire kit’ comprising of artificial blood to be applied to a set of fangs made from white plastic, packaged in a card with hard plastic cover.
Sales period: This product was sold through retail outlets between June 2022 and October 2022
Corrective action: Recall of the product from end users. Affected products were only sold by Poundstretcher.
Customers are advised not to use the product and to return it to Poundstretcher stores for a full refund or contact the the importer Overseas Trading Ltd at https://otltd.co.uk/customer-notices.
Argos Habitat Eton Fabric Sofas and Footstools in grey and charcoal (2303-0003)
Type: Furniture - sofa
Brand: Argos Habitat
Hazard: The product has been identified as presenting a serious risk of fire as the fabric cover fails to meet the requirements of the relevant standard BS5852. If the cover of the sofa came into contact with a naked flame, it would catch fire and continue to flame.

Winnie the Pooh Sleeping Bags sold by John Lewis (2303-0031)
Type: Clothing, textiles and fashion items – baby sleeping bag
Brand: Disney
Hazard: The sleeping bags have been recalled as it was identified that there is a risk that the poppers on the bags can become unsecure and detach, creating a small part. This can present a choking hazard to young children.

Product Description: One white ‘Exploring’ sleeping bag with Winnie the Pooh characters all over and a 2-pack of white ‘Friends Forever’ sleeping bags; one sleeping bag with a single green Winnie the Pooh; and one sleeping bag with green Winnie the Pooh characters all over. All sold in sizes 0-6 months and 6-12 months.

RELiON Battery Insight Series 48V 30aH (2303-0032)
Type: Other - Lithium-Ion Batteries
Brand: RELiON
Hazard: The product has been identified as presenting a serious risk of fire as a manufacturing fault can lead to corrosion across the ribbon cable terminal where it mates with the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) for the Battery Management System.
Stress on the product’s capacitor can lead to the sealing mechanism becoming compromised, which can cause electrolytes to leak onto the PCB. If there is arcing across the sense ribbon terminal, the resistors can overheat, and the product can ignite.

Affected Serial Number Ranges: RB48300020210314057- RB48300020210314729, RB48300020210330001- RB48300020210330715, and RB48300020210507012-RB48300020221016550. The serial number of the recalled product can be found on the side of the battery.
Country of Origin: China
Product Description: The intended use includes, but is not limited to, golf carts, low-speed vehicles, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and outdoor utility terrain vehicles (UTVs). The batteries can be utilised as stand-alone units or connected in an approved parallel architecture to increase capacity.
Corrective action: Consumers should immediately stop using the RELiON InSight Series 48V battery if it is included within the recalled serial numbers and contact RELiON to coordinate a return.
